The Richest Man in Babylon

The last two weeks I have written about the book The Richest Man in Babylon. See https://hledgerfan.com/using-emotions-to-work-for-you-instead-of-against-you/ and https://hledgerfan.com/collecting-old-personal-finance-books/.

How much have you found this book helpful?

Are there any other works of fiction that motivate you to stay on track with being financially responsible? (I say fiction here because I am interested in finding comparisons to the fictional The Richest Man in Babylon.)

Love that book! There is a great audio version on audible. Not sure I have listened to the whole thing, but things like this can be great for getting yourself in the mood to work on accounting and financial cleanup.

I haven't read the book myself, but a friend of mine read it after a major life change several years ago and recommends it highly. Another friend who read it on his recommendation also recommends it highly. Both of them credit the book with giving them the financial knowledge to achieve their life goals. That first friend is now preparing to retire (or FIRE) in a year's time at age 43. I guess I'll have to find time to read it, too XD.

(Speaking of books - Your Money Or Your Life is another valuable one.)

Your Money or Your Life was definitely an influential book for me, too. I especially remember the graph charting your expenses on one line and your passive income on another. The idea of a point in your life where your passive income exceeded your living expenses was a powerful one.
