I read this idea in another book. The idea is to know the real net inncome of you work that is not only the income minus taxes but also all the expenses due to the job.
Then you can go ahead and calculate the yearly hours you work. You should add the additional hours you need for your daily trip to work, the time spent having lunch... And you could get the net income per hour you are working (spoiler: is much less than you thought xD)
