# Visualizing your Ledger

Given the recent advances in analysis machines and visualizers, I wonder what people are up to these days with visualizing their books.

I got a lot of mileage from HLedger SQL export -\> Sqlite3 -\> Metabase.

The way this works is very low-tech right now. Whenever I remember, I update the SQLite file

```auto
hledger print -O sql -f main.ledger | sqlite3 sql_ledger.db

```

This file is in a folder that's connected to the docker container running Metabase as a volume

```auto
docker run -d -p 3579:3000 -v ~/path/to/ledgers:/data --name metabase metabase/metabase

```

I'm curious to hear what your setup looks like.

Also, I'm looking for interesting SQL queries you've used to chart the output from hledger's SQL dump; if you have any.

Not SQL queries but [Surebeans](https://surebeans.net/) is an hledger frontend with several useful charts: Net Worth, Spending, Trends, Income vs Expense, Cash Flow, Cash Buffer
