I only have good words for GnuCash. I began accounting my personal finances with GnuCash after trying to get something with spreadsheets. Thanks to GnuCash I began with double entry accounting, I read the manual of GnuCash and I learnt how to record mortgage, investments...
Then I discovered plain text accounting and the flexibility of reports and bulk edition made me migrate towards ledger-cli and later hledger. But I can avoid to have some nostalgia of my beginnings with accounting... 🙂

Same.. it's the grandparent of my current accounting setup. I almost want to fire it up again.
Edit: what the heck. The latest 5.9 is a mere `brew install gnucash` away.
Edit: Sweet! Looking at my 2007 journal again. (What's with all these green stripes ? My eyes!)
Surely it's possible to use this thing as a PTA GUI.

I remember playing with invoices to generate the PDF and record the transactions with Accounts Receivable account just for fun 😀 (for one small bussiness it provides basic and perhaps sufficient functionality)
